Qs & As
Q: Ive just started to paint with acrylics and Im thoroughly enjoying them! The only problem that I keep having is that with my house being so warm Im finding them drying out far too quickly! Is there a cheap way of keeping them moist without rushing out to buy anything new?
A: A moistened sponge with a piece of greaseproof paper on top with your paint on that should do the trick!
Q: Should you approach a gallery yourself to have them sell your artwork?
A: Yes, but be sure to do your homework first! Visit some galleries to see the standard of work hung, then ask yourself the question..Can I see my work hung or displayed here?. If your answer is yes then make an appointment to see the manager/owner. Have a current CV and photos of your work, also a couple of recent pieces with you.
Q: What would be considered a fair commission for a gallery these days?
A: This depends on gallery location and prestige. However the current asking price of gallery commission is 33.1/3%. This could vary also if you are exhibiting solo or in a joint exhibition as expenses have to be allowed for ie. Advertising, printing etc.
Q: When buying art these days what is the rule of thumb?
A: If you see art that excites you, makes you feel something, that is what Id buy! No rule of thumb needed!!!
