Gibbs farms sculpture

The Farm
Auckland Art Gallery
Foundation launch
March 5, 10.30am-4pm

A rare opportunity to visit the country's most extensive sculpture park comes up next month. Alan Gibbs has been developing The Farm over many years and has works by leading New Zealand and international sculptors.

New Zealand works include those by Ralph Hotere, Chris Booth and Leon van den Eijkel. The international artists represented include Daniel Buren, George Rickey and Sol LeWitt.

The most impressive of the works is Richard Serra's Te Tuhirangi, a 6m-high and 257m-long metal wall that slices through the natural landscape.

The day-long trip to The Farm is the first in a series of fundraising events by the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation, which is raising funds to support the gallery's $75 million development plans.

The $300 contribution includes free luxury coach transport, luncheon and the opportunity to meet some of the artists. For further information: Liz Hauraki (Auckland Art Gallery), ph 09 307-7700.
