HUBERT J!
"Film has always been a part of my lifeas a radiologist, it is my diagnostic toolas a photographer, it is my vision of the world!"

Hubert J! didn't think of himself as a photographer or world traveler. Although he was considered well traveled, the sights
were quickly forgotten. The turning point occurred in 1988 when he purchased a new camera and a few rolls of film for a
trip to China with a group of avid photographers. Hubert shot so much film that he bought fresh film at every destination.
When the prints were developed, he knew that these were photographs...not snapshots.

Striving for excellence, he enrolled in The Introductory
Photography course at UCLA. Thus began years of advanced
photography courses, participation in workshops with world-renowned photographers, membership in local professional and semi-professional camera clubs and re-traveling the world with a new perspective. Many of his images are printed by Nash Editions whose contribution to the development and excellence of the Iris printing process has been recognized by the Smithsonian Institu

Hubert J!s work is prized by collectors throughout the United States and is part of the extensive art collection at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles as well as numerous other hospitals throughout the area. Publication includes "Gone Fishing" in the National Geographic Traveler Calendar and the illustration of feature articles in "Inside Magazine". Several of
his images have placed in professional photographic competitions over the last ten years. Exhibits include the China Collection during December 2000 at dElegance Gallery in Santa Monica, California and Faces of Africa at Fara Fina Gallery in Marina Del Rey, California during October-November 1999.

Prior to becoming a photographer, he never engaged or communicated with strangers when traveling. Now Hubert J! states, "I communicate with the people I meet through conversation and animation, which gives me the ability to capture not only the physical appearance but the essence of my subjects. Although I have visited six ofthe seven continents, to me the world remains a beautiful place with an inexhaustible list of places and people still to see."
