Winners of art contest named
MARIAM Rashid Khawaja has won the Capital Governorate's Create A Mascot art and design competition. Ali Hassan Salman won second place, while Yasui Sachi Johana won third place. Governor Shaikh Humood bin Abdulla Al Khalifa presented the children with their certificates and awards at the governorate premises in Umm Al Hassam. Mariam received BD50, Ali received BD30 and Yasui received BD20. The competition, open to children aged between eight and 12, was organised by the governorate in co-ordination with the Bahrain Information Technology Society. The competition involved drawing a cartoon character appealing to children related to information technology (IT) and the world of computing. The mascot, which looks like a computer, will be used for the First Capital Governorate Children's IT Festival to be held from July 5 to 10 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. More than 100 children, aged eight to 12, are expected to take part in the event. |
