Danny is an award-winning artist with many awards and first place ribbons to testify to his love of art. He lives in a small community nestled in the middle of all his inspirations. Living in a small town, out on the prairies in Canada, you have all the inspiration you need just by watching nature colour the seasons. He paints in watercolour but would like to get into acrylics. He is self-taught with no formal education in the arts. He is well known for his winter and train scenes. All paintings are original at this time as he does not do prints but hopes to get into this shortly. He also is well known in the community for his generosity in donating his art work to help non-profit organizations. He can spend a day working on the details of one feather ( Predator) or he can do a painting like Tree Line the same day. He received the prestigious Eillen Korponay award for the most transparent watercolour among several others. He has been painting for approximately 4 years. Although born and raised on a small farm on the edge of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, my roots (if a Smith can have roots) are deep in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. This is where, as a child, many trips were made to visit the farms and relatives of both parents - visits that set the stage and influenced my life and paintings even though I have resided in Oregon and California for over 30 years. John "Ransome" Emery began painting as a young man and was commissioned by Womens Weekly to provide art for advertising. He then moved to New Guinea and was caught up in the war as a Rifleman. He did not return to paint until after retirement and found the challenge of watercolour kept him focused and learning. His inspirations came for all of life but particularly from Europe. With failing health and eyesight, his painting provided escapism and drew him into the outside world. He has completed over 30 works. He passed away in 2005. His collection is now owned by his son. John Page' is relatively new to the art scene having started to paint in mid-life. Originally John had studied commercial art but decided that fine art was the forte' that gave him the most satisfaction.After experimenting with different mediums John settled on oil/canvas as the medium that best satisfied his eye. John lived in a rural setting for a number of years and has derived the majority of his work from those experiences. At the same time however he also recognizes the need to push out and explore the other classical disciplines of still-lifes, portraits and nudes. In an effort to describe his obvious love for painting John stated, "painting for me is a passion, and if a passion is consuming...let it devour me completely".
