Celia Anne Harris: Fantasy Doll Art

The duration of a sculpture can take from 1 day up to 2 for Celia. "Waiting for my sculpture whilst it cooks in the oven is the hardest part for me," says Celia. "As I can't wait to get it out of there and start dressing it. It's my favourite part. Perhaps I am still that little girl who loved to play dress ups with her dolls! But decorating the fae truly is when the sculpture start to unfurl their spirit and come alive, which is addictive to watch and make happen." Celia chooses only the finest materials for her Art Dolls, carefully selecting the most beautiful silks and finest embellishments. You'll notice an abundance of antique ribbons and lace, vibrant Thai silks, selected hand embroideries as well as gorgeous gem stone beads and Swarovski crystals.

One of Celia's main focuses is to incorporate her passion for spirituality with her love for sculpting. Says Celia: "As a practicing pagan, elemental spirits are a large part of my reality. I believe in faeries without a doubt, and see them as spirit manifestations of the elements who exist to aid in the continuation of nature. And just like humans there are many degrees of evolution in the fairy kingdom, ranging from the smallest flower spirit, to the grandest angel. They exist with us on the physical plane, but have a much finer vibrational frequency like ghosts and spirits, which is why it can be difficult for the ordinary person to see them. Through my sculptures my greatest aim is to capture the spirit of the faes that I experience in my waking hours. I don't know why I have this need, exactly -- there just seems to be some maddening force that drives me to do it."

Messenger Series
"Angel of Achor"
You can almost feel the west wind and see the sun setting on this one
of a kind angel made of polymer clay. She has a sculpted torso and soft
body. Sitting on a candlestick her costume is created with a special
mixture of stiffeners and paints. Achor is Hebrew for trouble. In the
context it was read and my understanding it beautifully signifies trouble
can bring about a doorway to hope. This is the angel I see at that doorway.
