Susane Mueller:
Painting on Silk
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Susane has attended The Art Students League in
New York. Working in oils and pastels, mastering deep colors in these mediums.
Susane's work turned drastically when she moved to Florida. The vibrancy of the
sun-drenched Florida coast, the flowers and blue skies continue to provide
endless inspirations for her. Susane is one of the few artists who have mastered
the technique of painting on crinkled Japanese rice paper, where the richness of
the silk painters' dye creep and rest in the veins of this unique paper. The
rice paper used is called Masa paper. Once crinkled and pigments are applied,
it's reminiscent of a batik-like effect.
The spontaneity with which she paints and her rich varied palette on this
remarkable paper produce not only the image of her subjects, but its very
essence. Mueller's joy of living, balanced with a deep inner serenity has become
an intricate part of each work. Each painting is a testament to the warm,
reflective spirit of the woman herself. "God has richly blessed me with the
gift of creativity, I always want each painting to be an expression of His
love." Susane has participated in well-respected shows and galleries and
has also taught classes and workshops in the Tampa Bay area
(St. Petersburg/Clearwater).
