I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and went to college at California State University, Northridge where I majored in History. I still painted but had many other interests as well. I even majored for a while in Cultural Geography. I have always loved to travel and have been to the Philippines as well as Russia, Scandinavia and Europe. Little did I know that painting cityscapes would be my main interest for a long time. Eventually, I found my way to Martin Lawrence Galleries and was an artist with this company for about six years. At the time I painted under the last name "Pergola". I had numerous serigraphs printed from my originals and at least 25 art shows throughout the country. I painted mainly cityscapes, most of which were of New York City. From 1994 to 1999 I was hired as an artist for John Szoke Editions in New York City. I moved back east for six years and lived in Rivervale, New Jersey. John Szoke printed more serigraphs as well as posters and a cookbook. I still painted mostly cityscapes of New York and European cities. I had numerous shows with Szoke Editions as well. I now reside back in Los Angeles. I currently work in oils, silk paintings and pencil. I'm still inspired by the cities of the world but also animals, people and nature. In 2001, I created two angels for the Community of Angels Project in Los Angeles as well as a poster for the Special Olympics 2002 Cingular Celebrity Golf Classic in Florida. I also found a love for the rain forest and have been to the Amazon to take photos three times. I recently took a trip to Bhutan & Thailand where I took many photos and was infinitely inspired. My pencil drawing reflect my love of nature and are somewhat surreal. On the other hand, my silk paintings are unpredictable and very colorful. The love I have for drawing and painting is my greatest expression of my feelings and how I see the world. |
