The City of Lloydminster in Saskatchewan had my collection on display at the Barr Colony Museum from the year 1985 to 2000 and
we found theses two pictures missing about 1990. It was this incident that forced us to eventually move our work from their facility
and in 2000 it was shipped back to Ontario. About 1990 I spoke to a RCMP in Saskatoon about this incident and he left it up to me.
He said that I needed to file a formal complaint on paper or I could contact "Interpole" whe specializes on stolen work. We believe
the two pieces have a value of $75,000.00 each minimum at the present day.
I firmly believe that an official of the municipal government probably has them but it is dangerous to accuse anyone without
reasonable evidence. I decided to withhold making an insurance claim which was in place at the time because they accuse you on
cashing in on this work because the pictures are not saleable or were not saleable at that time. Another thing, It would be an
argument as to the value of these 2 pieces because some pieces are valued at a greater amount than others. Because I do not have
the work, I can not attest to their value. They may be worth 35,000.00 each instead of the higher amount. I know however that they
were excellent pieces and the value is supreme and therefor they are of the higher value.
But the forgoing is some of the difficulties one would run into, when making a claim. I suppose the ultimate decision one would need
to make is, "Should I make The claim?" And after that, be prepared to wait out the court system for 10 years or so until it comes to
trial and that is if the work is ever found. |
