I've been on this earth for 47 orbits now. Always a nature artist at heart, I became intrigued with the idea of painting nature panoramas in 1988. The challenge intrigued me and the panoramic format allowed me to play with light and color as it flows across the entire sky. I needed to develop a mind-bending focus to be able to paint a spatial illusion on a rounded surface. Once my mind was sufficiently bent, painting became a meditative exploration of the world around me. Conceptually I strive to create worlds to hold in your hand. While turning an Eggscape in your hand I hope you will be drawn into the painting, to feel as if you are part of the landscape, enjoying a 360-degree view. I want you to imagine hearing the crickets, feeling the breeze and watching for falling stars. I want you to imagine peace. |

As for a canvas, why not eggs. They are a conversation piece in themselves. The challenge is that the work has no beginning, no end. Just a middle. A slight turn and you get a new perspective. Mark hopes you enjoy viewing his work as much as he did producing it. |
