I paint realism with strong color, composition and drawing from life and photos taken by myself and/or friends. My favorite subjects are wildlife and landscape which I often incorporate both into the same painting. I started painting Plein air about 6 years ago and it has gradually taken over to the point that I only work from photos if I absolutely have to. I absolutely love discovering new and beautiful remote areas of Florida. Each painting I do has a story behind it. I can look at the painting and it takes me back to that day and I can once again feel the breeze, hear the birds, gators and all sorts of wildlife, smell the clean air etc. My sons love of wild cats inspired me to do a series of wildlife paintings depicting cougars and tigers which are based on photos we took at an artists sketch-out offered locally. We were able to interact directly with the young cougars who were about a year old (see Curious Cougars) I also love the beautiful colors and majesty of tropical birds of which I have photographed extensively. My goal is to capture scenes that one day will be gone in the hopes that others will see and appreciate the land and wildlife that we have today.

Picasso inspired me to paint. Seeing his exhibition in Paris the variety, vitality, and strength of his work--I had little choice but to begin. Now, an artist myself, I've experimented with many media. I love the bold colors of acrylics, the magic of watercolors, the joy of monoprints--the endless possibilities of washes in black and grey. My purpose is to explore and experiment with a variety of media for the sheer joy of producing art that is colorful, strong, expressionistic and individualistic. There have been many influences in my work--Cezanne, VanGogh, Picasso, Matisse,  the Abstract Expressionists and to some extent, Andy Warhol.  I've studied at the Art Students' League in New York and with other encouraging teachers throughout my career. My name is listed in Who's Who in American Art and I'm a nominee for the next  edition of Marquis Who's Who in the World. Please click on image
