Broken Pine

Peter Leckett's impressionistic landscapes reflect scenes of Canada's Ottawa valley and the surrounding Gatineau Hills. Striving for a fresh, painterly effect, he prefers working on location. What Peter's works lack in detail are more than made up for in their honesty and simplicity.
Lying at the edge of the Canadian Shield, the Ottawa valley is the main source of material for artist Peter Leckett.
It's rich history of pioneering farms, picturesque villages and stunning natural beauty provide a perfect backdrop for his loose, impressionistic style.
His choice of medium continues to be chalk pastel or watercolour, chosen for their ability to react quickly in a country well known for its distinct seasons and rugged weather. |

Rogers style has developed from the influence of his upbringing in the Caribbean, and from his mentors and teachers. Most notable among them are Jackie Hinkson, Trinidadian artist and professor, as well as Arizona artists Joni Falk, Mary Deloyht-Arendt and Robert Lemler. He admires contemporary artists such as Henry Valenti, Shant Beudjekian and Stephen Quiller, and the color theory of the french masters, Monet, Matisse, Chagall, Derain and Gauguin. He also loves the vibrant abstracts of
Kandinski.
After more than 30 years of involvement with the arts and commitment to artistic development, the subjects of his paintings are as eclectic as his life. His talents and vision find expression through a wide variety of media. The body of his work includes seascapes, landscapes, human-interest compositions, still life, and portraits. His skill with charcoal, pencil, watercolor, pastel, acrylics and oil permits him freedom to explore his subjects and moods. He sometimes experiments with mixed media in his art.
A member of the Arizona Artists Guild, the Arizona Pastel Artists Association and the American Society of Interior Design, he speaks five languages and plans on opening his own gallery and frame shop someday. |
